While we loved the “Pop Con” name we recently discovered that the name was already in use by another convention. To avoid any confusion and to set our own unique course, we decided to make this exciting change. This is the same great convention you know and love, just with a new name.

After one traumatic summer interning in a small rat lab, Courtney Lin decided that maybe the medical field was not the best route for her to go. She declared to her Taiwanese mother that she was dropping her initial plans for med school to make funny faces into camera (cue her mother’s screams of despair). From there, she transitioned into also making funny noises into microphones. She then applied for and graduated from the on-camera acting program at UCLA, and since then has been able to meow, scream, giggle, and KYAH! her way into various projects. Don’t worry, her mom is fine now.

Courtney’s specialties in voiceover include animation, video games, toys, commercials, anime, dubbing, ADR/looping, and VO career coaching. Animation credits include Monster High, The Casagrandes, Teenage Euthanasia, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Video games include Diablo 4, Starfield, Fire Emblem Heroes, Mario Kart World, Pokemon Masters EX, & CookieRun Kingdom. Anime credits include Panty & Stocking, Black Rock Shooter Dawn, Romantic Killer, Mashle: Magic and Monsters, and Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun. Commercial credits include McDonald’s, ATT, Google, Toyota, Best Buy, Corona, Hatchimals, & SeatGeek.

Aside from VO, Courtney also has extensive training in drama and on-camera work, and has worked on hit shows such as Barry (opp. Bill Hader), Truth be Told (opp. Octavia Spencer), The Dropout (opp. Dylan Minnette), Sugar (opp. Colin Farrell), Night Court (opp. Melissa Rauch) and Ted (opp. Seth Macfarlane).

In her time away from her tiny padded box of foam (re: home office), Courtney enjoys cooking, teaching dance classes, and cuddling with her cats. She is also a co-founder of The School of Voiceover and co-host of Official_1UpTV on IG/YouTube.

As a coach, her VO students have gone on to sign with agents such as Atlas Talent, Artistic Talent, Dean Panaro Talent, & CESD, and she takes immense pride in her work helping students find their voice in the voiceover world.

JENNIE KWAN BIO

Jennie Kwan, a native Angelino, started performing at the age of 11 years old in the performing troupe, “Kids of the Century.” Audiences first recognized Jennie when she played the lead role of “Kim” in the first National Touring Company of “Miss Saigon” having landed the coveted role after producer Cameron Mackintosh conducted a worldwide search.

Jennie was then introduced to television as series regular, Samantha Woo, the wacky singing sensation on NBC-TV’s situation comedy, “California Dreams” which aired for five successful seasons and then onto world-wide syndication. Some of Jennie’s other television credits include The Rookie, New Girl, Anger Management, and The Nanny. Some film credits include “Promoted”, “Entourage”, and “Trojan War.” And you may have spotted Jennie cooking up a storm on Food Network’s hit show “Worst Cooks of America: 90’s Celebrity edition.”

For two years Jennie traveled with “Faces of America,” a one-person show regarding diversity and tolerance in America. She was an original cast member of “Bare, the Musical” and had a short stint in “Jewtopia” both shows having successful runs on Off Broadway.

Jennie toured the United States with the Broadway Tony Award Winning Musical, First National Tour of “Avenue Q” getting the chance to play the role of “Christmas Eve.” As well as becoming a puppeteer and playing the role of “Mrs. T”, “Bears” and Others.”

Jennie was a proud member of Hollywood Record’s vocal group, “Nobody’s Angel” who earned a Gold record for performing two songs on the “Princess Diaries” soundtrack and was a co-creator for the pilot, “Nobody’s Angel” television network ABC Family. And Disney lovers have been fortunate to see Jennie ride the magic carpet as “Jasmine” in Disney’s musical spectacular “Aladdin.”

Many may also know Jennie through her vast voice over work. She lends her voice to the character, Suki, on Nickelodeon’s hit animated series “Avatar: The Last Air Bender,” Jennie is also known for the iconic character, Chun-Li in Streetfighter 6. Currently Jennie is also tormenting contestants in Squid Game: The Challenge. Kimberly Brooks is an award-winning voice actor known for her versatility across animation, video games, commercials, and broadcast promotion. She is equally at home leading a series, anchoring an ensemble, or serving as a utility performer.

Her roles include Sky (Arcane), Princess Allura (Voltron: Legendary Defender), Bumblebee (DC Super Hero Girls), Jasper (Steven Universe), Stormy (Winx Club), Lewis (The Simpsons), Teela (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), and Batcomputer (Batwheels). Johnny Whitworth is an American actor, born in Charleston, South Carolina. He pursued acting as a teenager and moved to Los Angeles in the early 90s to build his career.

Whitworth became widely recognized for playing A.J., the lovestruck artistic employee who works at the Delaware record store in Empire Records, a cult classic teen comedy-drama that helped define 1990s alternative youth culture. He later appeared in major films such as The Rainmaker, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel by John Grisham. Whitworth played Donny Ray Black, a young man dying from leukemia whose case becomes central to the story.

Whitworth had built a steady career in both independent films and mainstream productions. Lauren is a professional cosplayer and content creator based out of Colorado with a passion for all things fantasy and sci-fi. She is a self-taught maker that has spent the last five years honing the crafts of sewing, embroidery, leather-working, chainmail making, and so much more. All of these skills can be seen in her cosplays and Lauren has tutorials and build videos across social platforms to help other crafters with their cosplay journey. She has deep enthusiasm for craftsmanship and can’t wait to see the talent that Elko Cosmic Con has to offer!
