The Ruby Mountain Resource Center (RMRC) in Elko, Nevada, stands as a vital non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through comprehensive job training and community integration. Beyond its popular thrift store and clothing boutique, RMRC operates with a profound mission to provide meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth. As a 501(c)(3) corporation licensed by the state, the center offers two key programs: Day Habilitation and Pre-Vocational. The Day Habilitation program focuses on developing essential communication, social, and emotional skills through engaging activities facilitated by dedicated Job Coaches. In contrast, the Pre-Vocational program provides hands-on experience within the thrift store and boutique, where participants undertake various tasks such as donation intake, shredding, and cashiering, thereby honing crucial workplace skills. Central to RMRC’s philosophy is the emphasis on community interaction, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion for its participants. By providing a supportive and enriching environment, the Ruby Mountain Resource Center not only equips individuals with the tools they need to succeed but also strengthens the fabric of the Elko community.
